Out of the Blue

In 2018 I set out to paint strangers, people derived from my travel photos taken from various locales around North America and Europe. I painted these individuals and groups, set against the same blue sky and dusty earth. A man selling curios, a group of young women jaunting forward, and a couple leaning in for a kiss - all interactions become incidental, their circumstances unknowable. They are people without opinions - just people against the same idyllic blue sky.

Out of the Blue consists of 20 paintings on wood panel, each panel is 14” x 11”. The entire piece measures 59” x 59”.
